Tour de Berlin Feminin - Result 1 July

Berlin, July 1. Caroline Kirk Schad from the Danish team ACR Women won the criterium at the start of the "Tour de Berlin Feminin" on Saturday. Schad won in a sprint on a 72-kilometer circuit (24 laps of 3 km each) on the street 17. Juni ahead of Nikola Bajgerova from the Polish team MAT Atom and Josephine Peloquin (Team Grand Est La Fabrique) from France. Just under halfway through the race, a group of seven had broken away. "We don't have hills and mountains in Denmark, so the very flat course here suited me very well. I am a sprinter and knew that I would have a good chance in the final," said Kirk Schad after her success. For Sunday, the Dane expects a difficult race: "It's longer and also not so technical, so it won't be so easy to get away," said the criterium winner.

On Sunday (July 2), the 100-kilometer main race is on the program. For the first time since 1994, the race will be held again and is on the calendar of the UCI (status 1.2). 24 teams from twelve nations, including the World Tour team Israel Premier Tech Roland or the internationally renowned Continental teams Valkenburg (Netherlands), Cofidis Women (France) and MAXX Solar Rose Women Racing from Erfurt, have registered for the race organized by the Berlin Cycling Federation (BRV) in the heart of the sports metropolis Berlin. The start is at 9:15 a.m., with the fastest female riders expected to arrive on the street 17. Juni from 11:45 a.m. onwards. The "Tour de Berlin Feminin" will be held as part of the Berlin everyman and everywoman event "GENERALI VeloCity Berlin".
