
The Berlin Cycling Association e.V. is one of the 17 regional cycling associations in the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer. Many well-known cyclists began their careers in Berlin or laid the foundations for their sporting success here. These include some of the currently most successful professional cyclists such as Maximilian Schachmann, Simon Geschke or Maurice Ballerstedt.
The members of the Berlin Cycling Association are organized in 36 cycling clubs or departments. From very young athletes from 8 years up to experienced seniors, the members present the diversity of cycling. This includes the Olympic sports of road cycling, track racing, mountain biking and BMX, as well as the other disciplines of artistic cycling, bicycle ball, bicycle polo, trials and unicycling. The offer is supplemented by the mass sports with cycling touring and country touring.
A well-known cycling-specific sports facilities is the Velodrom, which is also home to Berlin's federal base, and the state BMX base in the popular Mellowpark.
All clubs and the board of the cycling federation work voluntarily with a lot of passion for cycling. The Berlin Cycling Association cooperates with other sports associations and privately arranges organizers of cycling events, trade fairs and business networks.
In the tradition of the International Kids Tour
One of the main goals of the Berlin Cycling Association is to promote cycling for children and young people. This is realized with viewings and pupil trainings of the clubs as well as competitions like the Tour de Berlin- International Youngsters Race. The focus is on the experience of their own performance and fair sportsmanship with athletes from other clubs and nations.
