"Tour de Berlin Feminin" with premiere on July 2 - International professional women's bike race in the heart of Berlin:
Tour de Berlin Feminin 2023 - Berlin, June 2, 2023: After an interruption of more than 30 years, the Berlin Cycling Federation (BRV) is reviving the "Tour de Berlin Feminin" and organizing an international professional cycling race for women on Sunday, July 2.: Along with the new "Women's Cycling Grand Prix" in Stuttgart on July 16, the premiere of the "Tour de Berlin Feminin" is the only international one-day race for women in Germany on the cycling federation's calendar. The premiere will be held as part of the Berlin everyman and everywoman event "GENERALI VeloCity Berlin". The route leads on the last five kilometers along the most important sights in the heart of the sports metropolis Berlin.
"The Berlin Cycling Association, together with the Berlin Senate Department for the Interior and Sport, has set itself the goal of promoting international women's cycling. It is planned in the long term to establish an international women's tour under the name 'Tour de Berlin Feminin' in Berlin over four to five stages. The race on July 2 will serve as a basis for the development of the women's tour," says Claudiu Ciurea, president of the Berlin Cycling Association (BRV).
The premiere of the "Tour de Berlin Feminin" is registered in the UCI category 1.2 and will lead over a distance of about 100 kilometers. The advertised prize money of around 15,000 euros is on a par with comparable men's races. The day before, on July 1, a circuit race of about 70 kilometers will be held. "This is a long-term project of Berlin cycling that we definitely want to bring to the start this year. We can already present an attractive field of female starters at the premiere," says Philipp Tutzschke, sports director of the "Tour de Berlin Feminin". From the World Tour, Team Israel Premier TechRoland has registered, from the Continental range, for example, the renowned teams Parkhotel Valkenburg (Netherlands), BePink (Italy) or the new German team MAXX Solar Rose Women Racing from Erfurt are participating.
