Tour de Berlin - Etappe 1 - Tempelhofer Flugfeld

The Tour de Berlin has started!

All athletes, supporters and organizers were at Tempelhof Airport in the starting blocks for the International Youngsters Race of the Tour de Berlin from August 19-21. After the International kids-tour had to be cancelled twice in the last years, the organizing Berlin Cycling Association planned a new edition with a new concept for the athletes of the classes U13/U15 and the females of the U17. Above all, the goal was set, cycling in the heart of the city for the hearts of cycling kids from all over the world. The result is three attractive days of racing in three locations with a high profile. The stages started on the airfield of Tempelhof Airport, on the streets around the Berlin Olympic Stadium and on Karl-Marx-Allee right next to Alexanderplatz and the Berlin TV Tower. With the company HEUER Cycling. Berlin cycling had an experienced partner in cycling racing at its side for the tour, who also made these top race tracks possible for the youngsters. Furthermore, at the new edition of the Tour de Berlin, the teams did not have to pay any entry fees.

Before the former airport became once more a rock concert arena this weekend, the U13 and U15 cyclists rocked the former runways of the legendary Tempelhof Airport on the first stage of the Tour de Berlin - International Youngsters Race.

The program kicked off with a team time trial and a circuit race. Even Petrus proved to be a cycling fan and left the water in the threatening clouds. Right at the start, the Berlin LV team of the U13 won the team time trial. In the circuit race, Piet Würzner from LV Hamburg had the fastest legs. Julius Thomas from Eintracht Frankfurt won in the older age group.
